A narrow heritage floor with a modern tenant.

Elizabeth Street buildings give you character and take away convenience: riser space, ceiling heights and existing services are all tight. The brief asked for an open plan, glazed meeting rooms, a breakout and a comms room, with the lighting doing most of the design work.

Our job was to make the services disappear into the architecture and keep the program moving for the builder.

Cable before ceiling, every time.

Data and power ran first, above the line where the batten ceiling would land, with the comms rack set early so the fit-out could test as it went. Linear fittings were set out from the architect's grid before plaster, which is the difference between a ceiling that reads as one line and one that does not.

Light that reads as one line.

Glazed meeting rooms, track lighting over the workstations, a feature pendant in the kitchen and a signage circuit at reception. The tenant moved in on program.
